One of the reasons we developed a Green Stair Nosings in the Gripmaster range is due to enquiries on the phone from time to time, Coming from several customers in the mining industry. While the actual conversations we had are not available for posterity, we present what one of these could have been using our mates Slip and Mat. We want to highlight the thinking behind the enquiry, while explaining our developing a green coloured non slip stair tread/nosing, especially for those in the mining industry & marine type environments.
For the sake of this vignette, Slip is a Shift Supervisor in a Queensland coal mine. Mat is one of our product specialists at AMCO.
Slip: We need to repair some of our anti slip stair nosings on one our platforms at Cool Coal CHPP, can you help?
Mat: Sure, we can. What exactly are you after?
Slip: We want something tough by way of anti slip nosings for mines, do you carry these?
Mat: Definitely, our mining range of Gripmaster non-slip stair treads and nosings are the toughest you will find in the industry. They’re manufactured either on 1.2 mm corrosion resistant Colourbond, with a self-repairing zinc coating including a 10 year warranty or Galvabond material with a 5 year warranty. They’re also available in 316 grade Stainless Steel and Aluminum.
Slip: What colour are they available in?
Mat: Various colours: safety yellow etc
Slip: Have you got something like green stair nosings?
Mat: I was just about to tell that we also carry this product in green now. Its been the topic of many conversations over the years as there is plenty of evidence to support the release of green stair nosings and green stair treads.
Slip: Great, what sizes are they available in?
Mat: We can customise these to suit your specific needs. By the way, why did you go for green.
Slip: We’ve found this to be more visible than yellow. I even read somewhere that it’s the last colour humans see before passing out.
Mat: That’s right, green at 555 Newton meters is the most visible colour in the spectrum. This also would explain your last point. You also maybe interested to know there is supporting test data online that say the lower the ambient light the more pronounced the colour green is seen with the naked eye over the colour yellow.
